Sagantec Names Hillel Ofek President, COO

Industry Veteran to Refocus on New Market Opportunities

FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 16, 2004 Sagantec today announced that Hillel Ofek is its new president and chief operating officer.

Ofek will report to Retired Air Force Brigadier General H.R. Johnson, executive chairman of the Sagantec Board of Directors and chief executive officer. This appointment is effective immediately.

“Mr. Ofek brings more than 30 years of experience in managing and leading high-technology organizations in the semiconductor and electronic design automation industries,” said Johnson. “He has the broad technical background and management experience to lead Sagantec as the company expands into new product development areas.”

Ofek said:

“Sagantec has strong technology that is being used today in 90nm and 65nm process nodes. This technology forms a powerful basis for innovative new products in the design for manufacturability area and provides Sagantec with a unique opportunity to capture a leading position in this market.”

“I look forward to helping the company expand into new and exciting areas.”

Before joining Sagantec, Ofek managed his own consulting company, providing management, marketing, and technical consulting services. He also holds several advisory and board of director posts.

Ofek has been general director of software products at Actel Corp., vice president of software products at Dynachip Corp., and director of advanced design automation at Amdahl Corp.

Before that, he was senior vice president and a director at Silvar Lisco.

For the past 25 years, Ofek has been active in computer-related professional organizations and industry-standards projects. He is a past member of the IEEE/Computer Society Governing Board and a member of the ACM and IFIP's Working Group 10.5.

Ofek was general chairman of the Design Automation Conference and chairman of several of its executive committees, including finance and program.

In the area of industry standards, he participated in the pioneering stage of VHDL development, served as president of the VHDL International Consortium, and as a member of the VIUF Advisory Board.

Ofek began his career at IBM, where he spent 20 years in technical and management positions in research, advanced development, product support, and marketing. He received several invention and division awards.

He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
